A builders' group is seeking local acceptance of a new set ofenergy codes for homes.
The National Association of Home Builders wants the Council ofAmerican Building Officials to adopt energy standards for new housingrequired for homes insured by the Federal Housing Administration.
"The energy-efficiency standards that NAHB has proposed are analternative to new standards now being considered by CABO, which arenot economically justifiable and would add unnecessarily to the costof a new home," builders' president Jim Fischer wrote to the council,which is expected to vote on the proposed standards in September.
