NSW: DNA links accused to attack on Lauren Huxley, court told

The New South Wales Supreme Court has been told DNA evidence found on a petrol cap
.. links the man accused of trying to kill Sydney student LAUREN HUXLEY .. to the crime
scene.

Ms HUXLEY was found close to death in the garage of her family home in suburban Northmead
.. after emergency crews arrived to a house fire in November 2005.

Prosecutor CHRIS MAXWELL QC told the court today DNA evidence found on the petrol cap
matches ROBERT BLACK FARMER .. who he said deliberately set fire to the home.

But FARMER'S lawyer CAROLYN DAVENPORT said the case against her client is circumstantial
.. no witnesses can place FARMER at the home .. and there was no sign of a break-in.

FARMER has pleaded NOT guilty to charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent
to murder .. detaining Ms HUXLEY without consent and malicious damage to a dwelling.

The trial before Justice PETER HALL is continuing.
